It was finally time to get some paint on the block. After degreasing and grinding it back it was looking a little sad. I chose POR15 Engine Enamel, black for the block and head, silver for the sump.
I’ve used a few products in the past hammerite, vht but POR 15 really is the best and worth the extra £££. I chose Por 15’s engine enamel… purchased from frosts here: CLICK ME
Above is how the engine looked prior to cleaning. Below is a photo of the first coat of POR15
After doing some research and asking around, I decided to also paint the head. Below is a photo of the block with 2 coats of POR15 (apply sparingly) The sump and core plugs were painted in Aluminium silver, again POR15 Engine enamel.
Once I was happy with the block and the paint was thoroughly dry it was time to start bolting a few things back onto the block. Where there were matting surfaces (water pump, inlet manifold, exhaust, thermostat) I chose not to apply any paint. I have heard this can effect the seal and cause leaks.
Above are a few shots of the block with the sump, water pump etc… bolted on.
