The brakes consist of three parts, the servo (big black circle thing) the master cylinder and the brake lines themselves.
Start with draining the brake fluid from the top of the master cylinder. A great tool for this is a syphon tool, cost about £10 on ebay.
Once you are happy all the fluid is out, disconnect the brake lines (3 in total) be prepared to plug the holes and clean up any fluid that spills out, this stuff removes paint! so be careful.
Remove the master cylinder by removing the 2 bolts holding it to the servo (there is also a connector that needs to be removed. Lift the master cylinder away there is a little rubber seal on the back, make sure not to loose this (see picture)
You will now be left with the servo. Disconnect the vacuum hose, The servo is still connect to the pedal box so time to get inside the car.
The servo passes through the pedal using a pin. Removing the securing clip and the pin should pop out, it can be a little fiddly so stick with it and try not to brake the two plastic bushes either side. (below is a pick of the pin, with the clip and one of the bushes)
The next bit is pretty tricky, the servo brackets are held on with 4 bolts up behind the dash (If you don’t wish to remove the brackets you can remove the 4 bolts in the engine bay). It is however possble to leave the dash on and remove the brackets. Search around and you will find the 4 bolts, you need small fingers and patience. I sometimes remove the front seat which allows you to lie out flat.
And thats the servo out! for the respray I left the rear brake line in, obviously this can be removed but you need good access under the car. (gravel driveway!)
