Putting the engine back!

First of all – don’t try this at home. If you have a gravel driveway the job becomes 10x harder. Also its not a job for one person so my advice, get a friend over, or in my case my dad.

We started by connecting the block up with the gear box so we could lower it all in together as one. It takes a little bit of fiddling to line up all the splines and needs to be as level as possible. We jacked the front of the car up and removed the bonnet (4 bolts) to make access easier.Engineblock1

Using an engine hoist we connected onto the exhaust and inlet studs and secured with nuts. We then lowered the engine in at about a 45/55 degree angle.enginecrane1

You can see by the second photo how uneven the ground was, but after about an hour of fiddling the engine dropped into place. Big thanks to my dad, couldn’t have done it without him
